Description

Since its establishment in 1966, the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (the Committee) has played a key role in fostering a healthy bilateral relationship over many decades, especially during moments of setback. This grant will help the Committee to expand its subnational initiatives to strengthen the interaction and collaboration between local and regional governments, universities, businesses, and NGOs in both countries, encouraging a more nuanced approach to U.S.-China relations at the national level. In addition to the ongoing biennial U.S.-China Subnational Symposium, quarterly virtual briefings, and research calls, the Committee plans to develop Subnational Connect, a new suite of four regionally focused programs designed to engage local stakeholders on the aspects of the bilateral relationship that resonate most within their region. A subnational delegation visit is also planned for American state and municipal officials to experience on-the-ground realities in China. Â
