Description

A long-time partner of HLF, ASIANetwork (AN) aims to strengthen the role of Asian Studies within the framework of liberal arts education. With a modest budget derived primarily from a small endowment, grants, and affordable membership dues, supplemented by volunteers from the faculty of participating institutions, AN offers a broad array of programs and resources to its members. This Luce grant will increase the organization’s capacity through much-needed general support to advance its goal of infusing Asia throughout the liberal arts and undergraduate curriculum. Funding will also enable AN to enhance faculty development through a two-day professional workshop for early-career scholars across institutional and disciplinary boundaries. In addition, a postdoctoral fellows’ forum will be held in conjunction with AN’s 2025 annual conference to assess and reflect on the cumulative impacts of the Luce-funded Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows Program over more than 14 years, identifying current needs and future opportunities in education about Asia.Â
