Ekvn-Yefolecv is one model of creating a land-based sustainable community rooted in MvskokeĀ cultural values and language practices. This grant will allow Ekvn-Yefolecv to build on work they started last year that brought together 32 32 Indigenous people from six different communities who are also creating land based cultural and language revitalization efforts in their local communities. They would like to form a community of practice with this group and new individuals and organizations coming to their convening in 2024.Ā This year they expect roughly 45 individuals to attend their in-person event in November of 2024.

This grant supports program goal 1b: To ensure that knowledge makers and keepers have access to and are supported by a robust infrastructure of organizations, programs, projects, and resources.

Ā It supports this objective by investing in a community-based projects aimed at transmitting Indigenous knowledge with other stakeholders with an aim toward sharing programmatic models for cultural and language revitalization within a framework of sustainable community development. This is also the convening of Indigenous knowledge makers as they share models and best practices for language and cultural revitalization.

This work also support goal 2 of the IKL aimed at increasing philanthropic support to Native communities by educating and engaging funders about language and cultural revitalization efforts taking place in Native communities.Ā
