Description

ChinaFile  is an award-winning online magazine published by Asia Society’s Center on U.S.-China Relations.  HLF has supported the magazine since its launch in 2014.  Asia Society now seeks renewed funding for  ChinaFile for both journalists and scholars working in China and on the subject of China, with continued emphasis on open-source data-intensive research and cultivating emerging voices. To meet the circumstances of a changing environment of reporting on China, where access remains limited, ChinaFile will further expand its collaboration with a broader and more diverse range of storytellers and analysts, including Chinese writers and scholars as well as members of Chinese diaspora communities, to pursue new modes, subjects, and geographies of inquiry.  Luce funding would support ongoing publishing efforts, such as the ChinaFile  Conversation and commissioned reporting and analysis, and non-publishing activities, including translation, mentorship, and public programming.
