Description

National Geographic Society seeks Luce support to pilot a U.S.-China young storytellers exchange that will promote positive dialogue between the people of these two countries through a shared visual language that transcends national boundaries. Two rising nature photographers or filmmakers from each side will travel together to national parks in the U.S. and China, documenting the people, wildlife communities, and landscapes as well as the challenges they face from climate change and tourism. They will be encouraged to share experiences in real time with global audiences. In-person workshops will be organized on site for participants to exchange storytelling approaches and best practices with each other and local photographers. This project is intended to serve as a proof-of-concept for diversifying channels of communication and people-to-people exchange between the two countries and creating a new platform for mutual learning, trust building, and future collaboration. Â
