Description
A first-time grant to the Krannert Art Museum will support a unique career survey of abstractionist Louise Fishman’s expansive production of works on paper. Never executed as preparatory studies for her large-scale paintings, Fishman’s drawings in a wide range of media, including collage, are dedicated to her lovers, teachers and aesthetic forbears. This presentation of over 100 drawings, painted books, and sketchbooks, will explore Fishman’s formal vocabulary and artistic processes through the lens of feminist and queer art histories, offering a fresh consideration of the intersection of biography and drawing. A tour is planned to follow the presentation of the exhibition at the Krannert.
