Our PrioritiesFoster Dialogue Across Divides

We invest in organizations, networks, and individuals who create, care for, and share knowledge to benefit their communities and unify humanity at large.

What We DoWe invest in leaders and organizations who champion equity, inclusion, and trust within and among communities.

A healthy republic and mutual understanding cannot thrive where there is inequality, disinformation, or disenfranchisement. We support projects that foster an appreciation for difference and expand our collective capacity to create a more just and inclusive society.

Grantee Spotlight - Leap of Faith

Michael Gulker looked at the fracturing of Christianity in America and of the country itself and decided he needed to do more: he wanted to try to heal the faith itself. So in 2022, he brought together twelve pastors from across differences in theology, politics, race, socioeconomics, gender, and sexuality to determine if there was some core to Christianity that might rescue it (and the country) from itself.

Nicholas Ma followed his work for months, filming with Michael, all the pastors, and their congregations, in an effort to show the long slow work this kind of bridging across difference requires – and the beautiful possibility that it may allow. The Luce Religion and Theology grant helped support the completion of the Ma-directed LEAP OF FAITH.

“In a fractured moment, Leap of Faith reminds us that none of us can be reduced to our stances on any political or theological issue. It reminds us of the harm we do to others, even when we don’t intend to. It shows us that love and belonging need not—cannot—be measured out only within our own ideological tribes.” - Kristin Du Mez, Professor of History and Gender Studies, Calvin University
