CNN recently launched Race Deconstructed, a weekly newsletter sharing insights into American history and contemporary realities through conversations on race. 2015–16 Luce Scholar and CNN national political writer Brandon Tensley will be the lead writer exploring some of the subtle and not so subtle ways in which US society is organized around race.
Prior to joining CNN, Tensley was an associate editor at New America, a contributing writer for Pacific Standard magazine, and a co-host of Outward, Slate’s LGBTQ podcast. In 2018, he was selected as a fellow for the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Taiwan-U.S. Policy Program, also supported by the Luce Foundation.
Tensley spent his Luce year in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where he was a writer and editor at The Irrawaddy.
