Description
Scientific Adventures for Girls’ (SAfG) aims to remove systemic barriers to girls’ participation in STEM; to engage girls through hands-on learning; to increase their positive attitudes toward STEM; and to equip them with skills for future career success. This grant, along with support from several other organizations, will fund SAfG’s 27-week-long afterschool STEM programs, serving 850 TK-6th grade girls primarily from underserved communities in Oakland, Richmond, Berkeley, and Emeryville, California. These hands-on programs will give girls the chance to learn how to use tools, problem solve, collaborate, and develop perseverance and determination around STEM.
