Description
Founded in 2021, Ma’s House is a Native American-led BIPOC arts nonprofit located in the Shinnecock Nation in South Hampton, NY. The organization is an arts organization whose mission is to use art to educate the public on Shinnecock history, culture, Algonquian language, traditional crafts, sustainable gardening, cooking, physical health and mental wellness, drawing, and painting, as well as photography and photo editing. This grant will provide core support to the organization for operations and programing including supporting their artist in residence program and community outreach and engagement focused on intergeneration learning and increasing public knowledge on Shinnecock history and culture in South Hampton.
This grant supports IKI program plan 1b: To foster an environment conducive to knowledge production in Indigenous communities—one in which knowledge makers and keepers have access to and are supported by a robust infrastructure of organizations, programs, projects, and resources.
