Description

This grant will continue support for the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum’s (GOKM) Curator of Art and Social Practice, a critical role focused on making the GOKM relevant and responsive to the region’s diverse New Mexico communities. Luce awarded the GOKM inaugural funding for this position in 2022. In the first year, the curator presented impactful exhibitions and community programming, and began planning for an expanded level of activity in the lead-up to the opening of the museum’s new building in 2026. In year two, the curator will work with artists Jason Garcia and Ian Kualiʻi to organize two exhibitions that will provide new perspectives on the collection and expand the voices represented in the Museum’s galleries. In addition to support for the term curatorial position, grant funds will underwrite honoraria for the guest co-curators and ongoing community conversations in preparation for the reinstallation of the collection in the new museum. Beginning in 2025, the Curator of Art and Social Practice will be funded internally.
