Description

The School for Advanced Research (SAR) strives to promote equitable and just societies by engaging local New Mexican communities and audiences worldwide in conversation, research, and learning on topics of cultural diversity and Indigenous arts and culture.

This grant will continue to support SAR efforts to support Native artists in New Mexico working in various mediums.

This grant will allow SAR to continue summer work with Native communities and Native Artists. The grant will support the 2024 Pueblo Fiber Arts Show aimed at promoting, reviving and maintaining Pueblo fiber arts traditions and educating the general public about the cultural importance of this art form. Secondly, this grant will support the Grounded in Clay Community Grant Program—a mini grant program made available to over 60 members of the Pueblo Pottery Collective. Members can submit proposals to give back to their communities in ways that value the tradition of clay work through workshops or community engagement projects. SAR is seeking support from the Henry Luce Foundation to continue this program in FY2024 for another eleven grant funded-projects at $2,500 each.
This proposal is a funding collaboration with the American Arts Program. The American Arts program will contribute $5,000 to this grant, so we are asking for $5000 in C&I support. The Remaining $30,000 will come from the IKI budget.
