Description

From August 2023 through February 2024, consecutive tropical storms and flooding caused the California African Art Museum (CAAM) to close temporarily. While there was no damage to the art, and CAAM reopened its doors to the public in May 2024, the museum’s collection storage space was compromised and new temporary storage space is needed while repairs are made. Grant funds will support costs associated with rehousing over 500 works from CAAM’s permanent collection—including inventorying, crating, transporting, and temporary storage.
