Description

PANAAWTM began as a small group of women from Asia who were enrolled in graduate theological institutions or working in ministry in the United States. Since its founding in the 1980s, it has grown into the leading organization of Asian, Pacific Islander, and Asian North American Women working in theological education and ministry. A diverse community of Asian and AAPI theologians, biblical scholars, ethicists, religious educators, and activists, PANAAWTM is led by pioneers in their fields who mentor emerging scholars and religious leaders. Amidst increased anti-Asian violence across North America, PANAAWTM has responded by organizing webinars, short courses, annual conferences, and supportive online gathering spaces for affected communities. PANAAWTM will use this grant to extend these efforts, seeking to educate churches, theological schools, and other publics about AAPI feminist theologies and lived religions. The grant will support online and in-person events and fund an anthology of essays.
This will be the Luce Foundation’s first grant to the PANAAWTM.
This grant would advance the Religion and Theology Program’s goal of deepening public knowledge of American religion by growing and strengthening the creative efforts of diverse public knowledge makers.  Â
