Description

The Norman Rockwell Museum is in dire need of ready funds to retain and support staff at this moment of severe earned-revenue losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the letter attached here, the Rockwell’s museum’s director, Laurie Moffat, requests an emergency grant of $100,000 to directly support salaries of the curatorial staff. With this email,I wholeheartedly recommend approval of the proposed emergency grant.
The Luce Foundation has consistently provided project support to the museum, and in 2010 counted it among the cohort of the American Art Program’s AARF grantees. The museum has become increasingly ambitious in its programming and successful in attracting audience. It serves as a major cultural anchor in the Berkshire region.
The Foundation’s support of the Norman Rockwell Museum’s talented and highly committed staff at this critical moment, through this emergency grant, is a rapid and effective way to assist them in keeping their staff whole and active through these months of unprecedented challenges to the museum sector.
