Description

Corrymeela has been at the center of peacebuilding and nurturing hope since the years prior to the outbreak of Northern Ireland’s Troubles. This grant will support two initiatives: The Corrymeela Podcast and a 12-month workshop for emerging peacebuilders. The podcast is listened to by a global audience and draws on poet Pádraig Ó Tuama’s gift for facilitating dialogue and his commitment to peacebuilding. The International Conflict, Faith, and Democracy workshop cohort will spend a year focusing on democratic processes, dialogue, peacebuilding skills, resilience, and reflection on different faith traditions. Corrymeela will make use of an online platform to connect this international group of early career faith workers. Workshop participants will be comprised of at least two people from different sides of the conflict in each country represented. The content will consist of 15 online zoom conversations, a monthly individual one-on-one coaching session, and an annual gathering.
A 2019 Luce grant of $25,000 supported Corrymeela’s launch of its podcast.
This grant would advance the Religion and Theology Program’s goal of seeding and growing new initiatives on religion, democracy, and public culture.
