Kat Ray is the program assistant for the Asia Program. Kat joined the Luce Foundation after completing a Fulbright scholarship in the North Gyeongsang province of South Korea, where she taught English at two rural middle schools. While in Korea, she volunteered as a grant writer for KKOOM, a nonprofit that supports educational and cultural experiences for children at three orphanages. Kat also provided English tutoring for North Korean defectors in Seoul. Before this, she graduated from CUNY Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College with a degree in English, Psychology, and Human Rights. Her undergraduate work explored various topics including the United States’ history of disability charities and the impact of pandemic-era health policy on the disability community.
