Claire L. Gaudiani was a professor at The George H. Heyman, Jr. Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising at New York University. As Senior Research Scholar at Yale Law School, she completed the book, The Greater Good: How Philanthropy Drives the American Economy and Can Save Capitalism. For thirteen years she served as president of Connecticut College, her undergraduate alma mater. After receiving the M.A. and Ph.D. from Indiana University, she taught at Purdue University and the University of Pennsylvania. She was a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and held ten honorary doctorates. She served 20 years as a director of U.S. corporate boards and five years as the volunteer president of the New London Development Corporation. She was also the Executive Director of The Declaration Initiative. Claire was elected to the Luce Foundation Board in 2000 and was a valuable and dedicated member for over two decades.
