Description

The Pivot Fund provides financial support and capacity-building assistance to community-based news organizations led by and serving BIPOC people. Analogous in some ways to Luce Foundation grantee, the American Journalism Project, Pivot focuses on hyper-local news organizations that are meeting the specific information needs of communities of color. The first cohort of grantees included a Spanish-language news site in Savannah, GA, and a documentary film project developed by an Asian-American newspaper focused on Burmese immigrants outside Atlanta. While the first grantees were all in Georgia, Pivot is expanding its reach, adding 15-20 more organizations from across the South in 2024. Luce funding will support this expansion, enabling Pivot to offer financial and other assistance to the next cohort.Â
