Description

The Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development is a recognized leader in practical research, teaching, leadership development, policy analysis, and pro bono advising for Native communities. The core mission of the Project is to arm Indigenous people with the tools needed to govern effectively and to strengthen their economic, social, and cultural fabrics. This grant will support the Harvard Project’s update to “The State of the Native Nations: Conditions Under US Policies of Self-Determination” (SONN). Originally published in 2008, the book features essays written by Tribal leaders, educators, non-profit directors, and attorneys that describe a range of experiences in Native communities from economic and social development to jurisdiction on Tribal lands. An updated version of SONN will highlight imminent issues in Indian Country today and how Indigenous People are responding.Â
