Description

The Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) is an independent organization connecting scholars and other knowledge producers seeking to deepen public understanding of religion. A Luce grant will support PRRI’s efforts to engage a diverse set of scholars and others in the work of advancing public knowledge and stimulating the public imagination in the service of healing and strengthening American democracy. Our grant will support two initiatives: a Public Fellows program, which cultivates the public scholarship of researchers working across four areas that intersect with religion: racial justice and Indigenous rights, pluralism and democracy, immigration, and LGBTQ rights; and PRRI’s Religion and Racial Justice Network, which builds relationships among a diverse cohort of senior scholars, best-selling authors, journalists, clergy, and other knowledge producers working at the intersection of religion and racial justice. This grant would advance Religion and Theology’s Goal 1(a), to deepen knowledge and understanding of the diversity and complexity of American religion.
