Description

Seattle University School of Theology and Ministry will launch a project on public theology, seeking to reimagine theological education to meet the interests and aspirations of the millennial generation.  The project will involve two central components.  First, the School of Theology and Ministry will develop a new course on theology and public communication.  Blending experiential education with interdisciplinary analysis, the course will allow students to learn while producing podcasts for use by religious leaders, faith-based groups and other local stakeholders.  Second, the School will organize and host an annual summer institute for theological educators, seeking to increase the capacity of participants to design public theology programming for the millennial generation, and aiming to build a national network of seminaries that will contribute to rethinking theological education in view of the ongoing transformation of the U.S. religious landscape. The Luce Foundation’s grant will support project management, curriculum development, and the summer institutes.
