Description

A grant to the Osage Nation Musem will allow them to launch the Tangible and Intangible Manifestations of Wahzhazhe Ways project, a collections project that will allow them to do the following: 1) conduct a baseline Inventory of the approximately 5,000 two-dimensional and three-dimensional collection objects that include material culture items, works of art, and historic artifact and 2) develop an institutional plan to organize and care for their collection, integrating both museum preservation best practices and Wahzhazhe traditional care practices. This process will center the guidance and participation of an Osage advisory committee, comprised of Osage elders and other experts, that will develop a Wahzhazhe framework for categorizing the collection and Wahzhazhe knowledge and practices for care and use of collection items.
